Legnica, 2013
The account
On December 25, 2013, in the city of Legnica, Poland, a consecrated host fell to the floor during the distribution of Communion at St. Hyacinth Church. According to the account, the host was placed in a vessel with water, and over time a red stain appeared on it. The event was reported to the Diocese of Legnica.
The diocese initiated an investigation, and samples were examined by specialists. According to the exhibition and media reports, the examination found that the material resembled cardiac muscle tissue. The host has been made available for veneration in the church.
The Diocese of Legnica has been associated with pastoral attention to the event, but the precise nature and wording of any diocesan statement should be verified through the diocese's own communications before an ecclesial status label is assigned. This entry is currently marked as 'status being researched' pending verification of the diocesan statement.
The account is included in Saint Carlo Acutis's exhibition. Visitors to Legnica can visit St. Hyacinth Church. We will update this entry as primary Church documentation becomes available.
